How Can throbbing Ear Pain Be Treated?

Do I have a ear infection? My right ear has been throbbing with some occasional sharp pain today. During the last three days I have experienced hard of hearing. I have tried using drops of melaleuca oil down the ear canal plus Aleve which gives me temporary relief. My hearing is affected and my ears are ringing right now. My body feels normal . Should I see a doctor?
